The arena chest reward legendaries can grow quite powerful as well (Boulder, Kitsune, Timeless, etc.).
I'm up to 11 slots and the next slot is 10 gems (I got lucky with event chests). The trick to getting legendary orbs is to target the easily breedable ones, like Kratus (Pure/War lv 16+), or any of the Breeding Sanctuary legendaries (Abyss, Mirage, etc.).
The Dragonarium also goes up in gems per slot. The extra gold allowed me to pay for new land pots, I just had to save up gems to pay for the islands. Ended up with a ton of fire/sea/nature habitats instead (increasing max available gold). What I did was toss dragons into other habitats that matched any other element they had.
